David was born on the 3rd day of January to Clara and Fermon Sellers in Wichita Falls,Texas year 1940. The family moved to Houston and David grew up on the Northside where he lived with his mother Clara and step-father Wilbur Crawford from the age of 8 and loved Wilbur as his father from then on. David graduated from Sam Houston High School in 1958, then met the love of his life, Jean LaVerne Johnson. They married on March 27, 1959; a short time later two children were born, David Jr. whom he called Rascal and Theresa he called Sissy. David and Jean were married just short of 53 years when Jean died in February 2012. David went to apprentice plumbing school at Plumbers Local # 68 and worked for various plumbing companies. He later acquired his Master Plumbers license, then started his own companies, Quality Plumbing in 1976, then Sellers Plumbing Company in 1979, that employed many people throughout the years. When he hired someone, if they were not already a friend of his, they soon became one...
David loved to build and race cars anywhere and anytime. It was nothing out of the ordinary to see him and several of his buddies hanging out in his garage souping up cars and talking drag racing. His best friends growing up were Marvin Seals, Waymond Matthews and they were a site to see when together and remained friends and raced cars until they day they died...
David also loved to fish and hunt with his son Rascal. His first boat he purchased in 1972 he called the "Old Blue Boat" and still has the boat in his barn. Many stories and friends were made from that Old Blue Boat. He also purchased a Dynatrac bass boat and possibly made a few friends a little mad at him after taking a ride in it...
David had another thing that he loved and that was animals. If he was around, no animal would be mistreated, be hungry or need water. He especially loved dogs and the ones that he owned you can believe that dog didn't know that it was a dog. Baby, Buttercup (Butter) and Wilson, his 3 poodles have passed but he is taking Butter & Baby with him and his wife Jean has Wilson with her. Then there is Chloe his current poodle, she has moved in with Christine and she will take good care of her for him. Christine Harmoning met David thru his granddaughter Kristy after his house fire in June 2013 where he was burned badly. Being a nurse Christine's instinct was to help him so she dressed his burns from the fire. Then she took care of him from that day on through major neck and back surgeries and everything in between until today no matter how big or small..she has 3 children and many brothers.. Christine was not only David's caretaker & best friend she and her children and brothers "The Proulx Boys" all became family to David and his family and friends are very blessed and thankful for them being there and caring for him when he needed them.
David is preceded in death by his granddaughter Kristy Laverne Walker and his wife Jean LaVerne Sellers.
