David Brian Phelps, 69, born on July 5, 1953 in Holden, MA, passed away on February 18, 2023 in Houston, TX. David grew up in West Boylston, MA and moved to Simi Valley, CA as a child. He joined the Army in 1971 and proudly served for three years. David moved to Houston, TX in 2002 and eventually met his wife Susan. He attended Houston’s First Baptist Church where he grew in his faith and relationship with the Lord. Nothing made him happier than worshiping every Sunday with Susan and the rest of the family. David courageously faced his cancer diagnosis knowing his hope was in Christ.
Along with spending time with family, he loved to cheer on the Houston Astros, enjoyed traveling and being outdoors. David worked for a local home remodeling company for 20 years where he was well loved by his customers and colleagues.
David will be remembered as a loving husband, a doting father, a kind and generous friend, and an amazing Poppy to his grandkids.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Phelps, daughter, stepchildren and grandkids; daughter Kristin Ebaben, husband Andre, and two sons Austin and Andrew; stepson Daniel Coborn, wife Bridget, and daughter, Nora; stepdaughter Brittany Fernandez, husband Nick, two sons, Logan and Miles; stepdaughter Caity Carr, husband James, and daughter Bailey. He is also survived by his sister, Debbie Peterson, husband Michael, and brother Brian Phelps, partner Tina, along with many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. David was preceded in death by his parents, Wallace (Wally) and Beverly Phelps.
A celebration of life will be held on the grounds of Memorial Oaks Cemetery on Saturday, March 4th at 11am. All friends and family are invited to attend a reception that will be held immediately afterwards at 7923 Capri Circle, Houston, TX 77095.
