Daniel Emil “Don” Hundl, 87, of Houston, TX, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, May 11, 2023 after a series of health problems. He was born on May 27, 1935 in Cistern, TX to Annie Marek Hundl and Frank A. Hundl, who preceded him in death. He was preceded in death by his brothers Emanuel Hundl and Franklin Hundl, sisters Hattie Null and Elizabeth Milsaps, his son, Dean Edward Hundl, son-in-law Paul Heitfeld, Jr., and granddaughter, Kasey Tesch. He is survived by wife of 24 years, Natalia Basila Hundl, daughters Diana Heitfeld, Elaine Tesch and husband Mike, Cecelia Horn and husband James, and Stepdaughter Norma Alexandra Narra. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Don was a dedicated member of the United Association & Plumbers Local Union #68 for close to 65 years. He was on the Plumbers Local Union #68 Executive Board from 1974-1977. He worked for Joe E. Johnston Plumbing for around 20 years, as well as Natkin Plumbing. Don retired from the City of Houston after 25 years where his final stamp approved the Commercial Plumbing Plans. He worked on many buildings in Houston as well as the Medical Center and Galleria. He worked in the Medical Towers frequently and was happy to find out he was hospitalized in the Denton Cooley Building where he worked on the first six months of its construction. He worked on the Mecom Fountain and, after it was filled with water, was the first to swim in it.
Don loved the outdoors. He loved fishing and hunting, as well as camping, boating, and motorcycling. He was an avid photographer, taking numerous family pictures. His love of flowers and nature showed in his photography. Don had a sense of humor and love that will be greatly missed by his family and all that knew him.
Celebration of Life will be Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX, 77039. Visitation at 1pm, Celebration of Life at 2pm, Graveside services at 3pm.
