Craig was born on November 24, 1956 in Sunbury, PA to Shirley L. Maurer (Bucher) and the late William J. Maurer. Craig grew up in PA, then later Delaware, where he graduated from Conrad High School. He enjoyed playing on the tennis team there as well as running cross country. Immediately after graduating, Craig enlisted in the Air Force, where he rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant before earning an honorable discharge. He then lived in Williamsburg, VA near his parents where he raised his family, working mostly in the automotive care industry. Craig later moved to PA to help care for his mom, but after several health issues of his own, moved to Texas to join his mom and sister.
Craig loved fishing and telling stories. He could also tell you anything and everything about sports, especially football and baseball, particularly if it was about his beloved Raiders or Phillies. Craig was an avid sports fan, even coaching his boys in several sports growing up.
Craig is survived by his sons, Josh (Mary) Maurer of Culpeper, VA and Adam of Austin, TX, his mom Shirley Maurer of Katy, TX, sister Fran of Katy, TX, and brother Chris (Robin) of Richmond Hill, GA. Craig is also survived by grandchildren Conner Maurer, Kendall Maurer, several nephews as well as great nephews and great nieces.
A memorial service will be held at Crossroad Church, 700 Westgreen, Katy, TX on November 19, 2024 at 1:00 pm.
Private burial services will be held with the family at a later date.
