Claudia Sharpe Rosenthal was born on the 1st of November 1921, in Beaumont, Texas to Mary Jane and William Hunter Sharpe. She died on Sunday, the 25th of December 2022, in Houston, Texas at the age of 101.
She lived and went to school in Beaumont until the 14th of November, 1941 when she married the love of her life, Charles Allen Rosenthal. She and Charlie moved to Houston shortly after World War II, where Charles finished his education at Texas University and worked in the war effort.
After the war, Charlie went to work at Schlumberger as an engineer. They moved to Alice Texas, where they were blessed with a son, Chuck Rosenthal.
Schlumberger later moved them to Shreveport, Oklahoma City, Wichita Falls, New Orleans, Casper, and Denver. She and Charlie loved every location and had close friends in each city. Charlie was transferred to Houston in 1958 and they loved living here.
In Houston, they were blessed with three wonderful grandchildren; Clinton Rosenthal, Ellie Wood, and Amy Wherley as well as a great-grandson Asher Wood, who blessed her life in a special way. Claudia adored her grandchildren and each one of them was blessed with a special and lasting relationship with her.
Claudia is predeceased by her husband, Charles A. Rosenthal. She is survived by her son, Chuck Rosenthal and his wife Cynthia; her grandchildren, Clinton Rosenthal and his wife, Elizabeth; Ellie Wood and her husband, Nathan; and Amy Wherley and her husband, Chad; and great-grandson, Asher Wood.
The family would like to thank that Hope Anderson for her kind and loving care of Claudia.
Claudia has had a busy and blessed life. She as a real sports fan and loved both golf and the Astros. She also enjoyed playing bridge. She and Charlie were members of the Petroleum Club, Houston Club, Lakeside Country Club, Blue Bird Circle, Houston Baptist Guild, and above all, Second Baptist Church, where great friends enriched her life in many ways.
The memorial service is to be conducted at eleven o’clock in the morning on Wednesday, the 1st of February, in the Hankamer Chapel of Second Baptist Church, 6400 Woodway Drive in Houston, where Dr. Gary Moore is to officiate.
The family will gather for a private interment at Forest Park Westheimer in Houston.
