Cheryl Gaye Layton, 73, beloved mother, grandmother and sister, passed away on September 22, 2024. She was born on May 14, 1951 in Houston, Texas where she grew up in a loving family. Gaye graduated from Smiley High School in 1969 and worked at Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center for over 20 years. She loved spending time with her friends and family and was the occasional prankster. She is preceded in death by her loving parents, Leon and Margaret Elliott. She is survived by her oldest son, Kenny Wright and wife Lauri, daughter Mandy Richard and husband Derek, son Bryan Layton and wife Rowena. Grandchildren, Madison, Kaitlyn, Abby, Drew, Bryan and Bea. Brothers Mark (Melanie), David (Teri) and Larry (Carin) and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be held at 8:30am on Saturday, September 28, 2024, with funeral services immediately following at 9:30am at Funeraria Del Angel Crespo Funeral Home, 4136 Broadway St., Houston, Texas 77087. Interment will follow at Forest Park Lawndale cemetery, 6900 Lawndale, Houston, Texas.
