Charles Eugene “Gene” Keller, 66, of Missouri City, Texas, passed away peacefully with family at his bedside on October 14, 2022. Gene was born in San Antonio, TX on September 2, 1956 to George Duane Keller and Rita Frances Kimbell Keller. Gene was married to Darlene Keller for 28 years. He had a career as a firefighter in the Houston Fire Department spanning 30 years, until his retirement. During his time in the fire department, he rose to the ranks of Captain and was never pretentious about his title. He was extremely dedicated to his fellow firefighters and the “job” of firefighting. Many described Gene as the Fireman’s Fireman. He enjoyed with great passion, family events like going to his grandchildren’s baseball games, family gatherings at the beach and just having dinner together. Gene also appreciated other hobbies like bowling, watching Nascar, attending the Houston Astros Baseball games and golfing. He became a marshal for the Quail Valley Golf Course for several years in his retirement from the Fire Department. Gene was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to all. He will be profoundly missed by all those who knew him.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Darlene Keller, sister Linda Keller, daughters Amber and Meagan Keller, son Ryan Keller, daughter in law Elizabeth Keller, Grandsons Liam and Layton Keller, daughter Jennifer Rogers, son in law Randy Rogers and granddaughters McKenzie, McKayla and McKenna Rogers.
A “Celebration of Life” will be held for Gene at the Quail Valley Golf Course and City Centre on Sunday October 30, 2022, in the Magnolia Room from 2pm to 6pm. The location is, 2880 LaQuinta Dr., Missouri City, TX 77459.
