Born on August 14, 1954 in Houston, TX, passed away on December 19, 2019. Cat graduated from Sam Houston High School in the Class of 1973. Later, he joined the Army on January 30, 1978 and was stationed in South Korea. While in South Korea, he achieved rank as Specialist 4. He was later honorably discharged on January 22, 1981. Cat later worked in the Post Office, Gerald D. Hines, Walmart, and Food Town.
He was a member of the Go Tejano Committee with the Houston Livestock Show Rodeo for a few years. He was an avid fan of all local sports and a huge fan of wrestling. One of his favorite wrestlers was Johnny Valentine. He also formed a slow-pitch baseball team called Latin Express which was mostly formed by his family members. He was also a great bowler bowling around 180.
Cat was raised by his grandparents Catarino and Maria De La Luz Martinez and by his aunts Adriana Lira, Irma V. Martinez, and Obdulia “Obie” Guerra.
He is preceded in death by his parents Daniel Sanchez Martinez and Josephine Solis Martinez, his brother Daniel Martinez, Jr. Maternal grandparents Juan and Maria Solis, paternal grandparents Catarino and Maria De La Luz Martinez. He is survived by his son Eric Carlos Martinez, grandchildren Elijah Nathaniel and Emarie Martinez, his stepmother Josephine Martinez, his brothers, Arthur (Enedelia), Albert (Jacinta), Michael (Maria), Kenneth (Judith) and his sister Guadalupe Falcon. Also, he is survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
