Carolyn Sue White was the oldest child born to Flora Bell Wilson White and Ivory White, Jr. on November 6, 1954 in Houston, Texas. Her childhood education was received in Vernon Parrish and HISD , Terrell Junior High School and Kashmere Senior High School, class of 1973. She was very proud of the fact that she played the clarinet and could march at the same time in the band at Kashmere.
Those who know Carolyn know of her work ethic. She worked for many years in the oil and gas industry. This hard-working single mother discontinued her career when it became apparent that she needed to become the caregiver for her parents. She accepted this demanding assignment and cared for both parents until their passing. Carolyn was the bookkeeper, banker, Uber driver (before Uber became popular), contractor when the house was destroyed by fire and needed to be re-built, custodian, housekeeper, mother to her children, grandmother to her grandchildren, helpmate to family members and a friend to her friends – all at the same time. She kept receipts and information obtained during phone conversations in a folder. She could take care of business from a position of strength because she had that folder.
Carolyn was also a meticulous housekeeper. EVERYTHING was always in order and in its place. Towels folded, silverware in its place, no dust on the furniture, no dishes in the sink, etc. Family and friends were always welcome but please know that she was going to re-clean the house as soon as you left. Her favorite past time was visiting any and all dollar stores.
Family was important to Carolyn, especially her children Davion and Myisha. She never recovered emotionally from Davion’s untimely passing, but she soldiered on. She was predeceased by her parents Flora and Ivory White, Jr., son Davion White and grandson Rodrick Green. Precious memories will linger in the hearts of devoted daughter Myisha Smith (Cody), grandchildren Nigel White, Jaren White, Davion White, Janiya White, Javion White, Mya Green and Rodney Green, sister Madelyn Louis, great-grandsons Jarod Green and Jeremiah Green, niece and nephew Kimberly Williams and Jonathan Boyvae Louis, step-brothers Robert White, Lionel White, Kenneth White, sister/cousin Jackie Wilson Pope, Aunt Vivian Wilson and numerous other family members and friends.
