Carolyn Ann McCaughern, born September 3rd,1945 in Portland, Oregon, passed away on April 25th, 2023 in Conroe, Texas. She was 77 years old.
Carolyn was the beloved wife of 58 years to Ronald R. Mason, a retired Air Force veteran. She was an adored mother of two daughters; Charlene Marie and Debra Lynn.
Carolyn was a graduate of Highlands High School class of 1964. She maintained lifelong friendships with the ladies of Tri-Hi-Y. She spent a number of years with family, camping, bowling, boating, in and around the Sacramento, CA area. As an Air Force family, there were many opportunities to see the world, such as Okinawa, Taiwan, and The Philippines.
Spending her whole professional life in the ophthalmic field, Carolyn assisted doctors in her role as an ophthalmic technician, and in her later years as office manager. She was devoted to her career, and loved to interact with people. She genuinely cared about “her patients.”
Beloved grandmother to Sydney Ellen Shay, Cooper Donovan Shay, and Olivia Charlene Gallego, Carolyn spent all of her free time with her grandchildren. Carolyn, along with her husband, Ron, moved to Spring, Texas in 2000 for the birth of their first grandchild. After the arrival of their youngest grandchild, Olivia, many trips back and forth between California and Texas ensued.
Carolyn devoted the last third of her life to worship through daily devotionals and bible study. She was an active, long-time volunteer with the Children’s Ministry of Woodlands Church. A great lover of gardens, she would join her daughters and grandkids on trips to botanical gardens all over the world.
In addition to her husband, children and grandchildren, she is survived by her brother, Robert McCaughern, and two sisters Suzanne Swift, and Bridget Arce.
A Memorial Service will be held at Earthman Resthaven on May 12, 2023 at 12:00PM with inurnment following at Houston National Cemetery at 1:45PM.
