Carolyn was a drum major and reigned as school queen at Pickard High School where she graduated in 1965. She was very active in the Class of 1965 High School Reunions which will celebrate their 50th high school reunion in August. After high school, she then attended Prairie View A&M University, where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Education and Masters' Degree in Business. Carolyn was employed at Foley's in the Credit Department for over 20 years, before she decided to pursue the family tradition of becoming an educator. Being the granddaughter and daughter of educators teaching came naturally, and for 14 years she taught 5th grade at Durkee Elementary until retirement. She took pride in her efforts of helping students with their aspirations and dreams of becoming successful participants in society. After retirement, she enjoyed watching HGTV and The Cooking channel to enhance her cooking skills and develop ideas for home projects. Carolyn's greatest joy was spending time with her daughter. They enjoyed traveling, going to plays, musicals, and visiting new restaurants. Carolyn was a devoted church member of God's Words of Deliverance Apostolic Faith Church (GWODAFC) for more than 35 years. She served on the GWODAFC usher board as a pulpit usher and treasurer. She lived a life of humble Christian service, always willing to do her part without ever needing the spotlight. Carolyn's last words as she was being ushered into everlasting peace were "Hallelujah!!! Hallelujah!!!" Although we will miss Carolyn, we can celebrate her homegoing by giving God the highest praise of Hallelujah!!! Hallelujah!!!
