Boyd Lambert Summers

Boyd Lambert Summers, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, peacefully departed in the early hours of Monday, November 13, 2023, concluding his courageous battle against dementia and ALS. The tribulations of health, memory, and pain are now replaced with the pure embrace of love. Boyd has found solace in heaven, greeted by his Savior, Father in Heaven, and the cherished ones eagerly anticipating his joyous arrival. Boyd was born alongside his twin sister Beth on September 14, 1951, in Ogden, Utah, to Louis and Irene Lambert Summers, Boyd's early years were spent in his hometown. He dedicated himself to an honorable mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Southern California, fulfilling various callings throughout his lifetime. On June 4, 1976, Boyd united in marriage with Jana D. Maxwell in the Salt Lake Temple, embarking on a wonderful loving journey filled with countless adventures.

While employed at Commercial Security Bank, Boyd earned the Outstanding Young Man of America award. In 1985, he attained his BS degree in business management with a focus on computer science from Weber State University. His post-graduation endeavors led him to Hercules Aerospace as a software designer and programmer before progressing to a senior software engineer role at the Boeing Company in Seattle, Washington, where he dedicated over thirty years of service. Boyd excelled in tackling intricate technical challenges on projects such as the F-22, Stealth Bomber, and various military and space programs, contributing significantly to their success. His professional journey took him across the globe, supporting military initiatives in England, Australia, and South Korea. Boyd, a published author of five software engineering books, ardently shared his wealth of knowledge. He actively participated as a speaker and board member at numerous software and quality control conferences worldwide.

Beyond his professional pursuits, Boyd found joy in singing and playing the guitar with his family, ensuring he never missed serenading loved ones on their birthdays. His passion for baseball, dating back to his childhood and high school years, manifested in his exceptional skills on various teams. The Seattle Mariners held a special place in his heart, and he often quipped about wanting to be laid to rest standing up at second base. Despite the progression of his disease over eight years, Boyd experienced unwavering care at home from his devoted wife, Jana, who nurtured and loved him until his last breath.

Boyd is survived by his loving wife of forty-seven years, Jana, residing in Cypress, Texas, and leaves behind his cherished daughters Julie (Tom) Hawken, Jill (Jeremy) Templeton, Jann (Shawn) Meadows, and Jami (Eric) Swenson, along with thirteen amazing grandchildren, Alex, Andee, Matthew, Hailey, Allie, Molly, Caden, Conner, Kennady, Averey, Braden, Ella and Lucy. He is also survived by his loyal siblings Jerry Summers, sister Judy Frandsen, and twin sister Beth Johnson (Ron).

The family expresses deep gratitude to Devotion Hospice, caregivers, and medical professionals, including those at Vaughn Gage Holistic Adult Wellness Center and the Neurology department at the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, Arizona.

A Celebration of Life will be planned in Ogden, Utah, inviting family and friends to honor Boyd's memory at a future date to be announced. Interment at Ogden Cemetery.
