Bonnie Jean Newman Jones of Houston, formerly of Grapeland, went to be with her Heavenly Father on April 5, 2024 at the age of 68. She was born on January 4, 1956 in Crockett, TX to Harry Dawson Newman and Biddie Ethel Johnson Newman of Grapeland. Bonnie shared her birthday in 2012 with her granddaughter, Carsyn Quinn (Buggie Boo) Schattle.
Bonnie is survived by her husband, Robert (Bob) Jones, of 25 years. Two daughters, Sandy Jean Jones and husband, Robert, of Spring and Misty Sue Schattle and husband, Gerald (Joe Jerry), of Spring.
Bonnie’s daughters blessed her with two beautiful granddaughters each. Sandy’s daughters are Grace Elizabeth (LouLou) Jones and Reagan Noelle (Peanut Pie) Jones and Misty’s daughters are Olivia Faye (Livie Lou) and Carsyn Quinn (Buggie Boo) Schattle.
One stepdaughter, Melissa Jones and husband, Don, of Spring. Melissa and Don blessed Bonnie with four beautiful additions to her family, Madison Olivia (Madie) Maddox, her oldest grand, Braike Jones, Ike Jones and her youngest little grand of all, Jack David Jones, (Jack Jack) all of Spring.
Bonnie is survived by her very special brother, Harry Dean Newman and wife, Candy of Grapeland. She is also survived by a special brother-in-law, David Burke of Elkhart. She is also survived by a sister, Betty Dow of Slocum.
Bonnie is preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Biddie Newman of Grapeland, four sisters, Ethel Mae Smith of Latexo, Wanda Sue Burke of Elkhart, Irene Allen of Rusk, Helen Lick of Grapeland and two brothers, Troy Newman of Palestine and Jimmy Newman of Palestine.
Pallbearers are Bonnie’s special nephews who remained close to her all through their lives: Bobby Newman, Larry Allen, Tommy Patton, Shad Bowman, Harry Newman, and Zane Lofton.
Bonnie’s favorite times in life were those spent with her grandchildren. She loved teaching them to cook and bake cookies, but most of all teaching them the true meaning of love and respect.
She loved playing the organ at Greenridge Missionary Baptist Church. She also crocheted many baby blankets for little ones that were born to family members and to friends and gave them with love.
In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to be made to Greenridge Missionary Baptist Church.
