Billy was born on November 19, 1937 in Ringling, Oklahoma. He graduated from Pine Tree High School in Greggton, TX in 1956, then studied petroleum engineering and graduated from Kilgore College in 1960. He was honorably discharged from the Army of the United States in 1965. After moving to Houston he worked for Foster Wheeler, then he went on to work for Brown & Root where he retired after a 30-year career that included extensive international travel.
Billy was a show car owner, judge, and club official for 40 years of the Southwest Street Machines of Houston. He and his family were beloved members of the community of the hobby they all so loved and were such enthusiast. He treasured their club fellowship at the Vasos BBQ weekly Friday night dinner.
Billy is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years Anna Elizabeth Hewitt Richardson, mother Lillie Mae Dowdy Richardson and father Thomas Richardson. He is survived by son Thomas Ray Richardson, brother-in-law Jimmy Forrest of Loveland, CO, brother-in-law James “Bud” Hewitt of Mandeville, LA, sister-in-law Helen Egan and husband Mike of Kaufman, TX, sister-in-law Louise Hewitt of Humble, TX, niece Donna Lewis and her husband Bob of Ft. Collins, CO, niece Sherrye Merriman and her husband Steve of Ft. Collins, CO, niece Karen Mathews of Mandeville, LA, niece Tina Carroll of Spring, TX, niece Shelly Millican of Splendora, TX, niece Rhonda Gail Hewitt of Longview, TX, nephew Barry Thomas Hewitt and Bruce Hewitt of Houston, TX, nephew Jimmy Hewitt and wife Pattye of Baton Rouge, LA, and numerous other nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for Billy will be Saturday, March 2 at 10:00am at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX 77079, and reception following at Memorial Oaks.
