He was born November 11, 1932 to parents James and Ilene Lane in Joaquin, Texas.
Billy was a true cowboy. As a young child he would climb a fence post and wait for wild horses to come by so he could jump on their back and ride them. Later Billy joined the United States Army and proudly served his country. While at a V.F.W. dance hall, he met the love of his life Peggy.
He had a passion for the Houston Livestock and Rodeo. He enjoyed riding horses and broncos bareback, he also enjoyed riding bulls. Billy had a passion for hunting and fishing. He owned many horses and was involved in racing and training them. He also enjoyed cooking BBQ for his family.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Peggy J. Lane. Daughters; Shirley Kemp and husband David and Lisa Lane. Son Billy Lane Jr. and wife Louise. Brothers; Jerry Lane and wife Harriett, Mickey Lane and Clint Lane and wife Wanda. Grandchildren; Chris Kemp, Scott Lane, Brandon Lane, Jennifer Lane, Clayton Kemp, Rebecca Lane, Morgan Lane and Eric Hochenauer. Great Grandchildren; Matthew Chavez, Paetyn Kemp, Jasmine Lane, Autumn Lane, Paige Kemp, Michael Lane, Eathan Beasley, Jaiden Chavez, Lucian Lane and Baby River and a host of relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at American Heritage Funeral Home, 10710 Veterans Memorial Dr., Houston, Texas 77038 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm. Funeral Services will be Thursday, July 28, 2016 at 1:00pm with interment to follow at Houston National Cemetery at 2:30pm.
