Betty Mae (Theus) Washington affectionately known as "Mama", "Granny", "Great Great", or "BMW" Betty attended Southside High School in Ringgold, Louisiana after which she moved to Kansas City, Kansas in 1959. She was employed with Central Bag Company for 20+ years, 3 years with J.C. Penney Distribution Center and 20+ years for Gear for Sports. Betty was a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church and served on the usher board for 10+ years. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Saint Mary Baptist Church. She was a loving mother and grandmother who often sacrificed so that her children and grandchildren would not have to. Her efforts did not go unnoticed or unappreciated. A mother of 4 daughters, Deborah (Clifford) Schoffield (Houston, TX.), Barbara Dyer (Atlanta, GA), Sonja Shamanda (Andre') Singleton and Michelle Washington (both in Kansas City). Our Lord quietly embraced Betty on Monday, June 7, 2016. Betty leaves to cherish her precious memories, her wonderful grandchildren TaMeshia Sikes (2 great grandchildren), Clifford (Tyrecy) Schoffield, Jr. (2 great grandchildren), Derrick (Tamikia) Hooks (2 great grandchildren), Keshia Taylor, Ollie Schoffield (2 great grandchildren), Ieshia (Shannon) Wilkerson, FeLeshia Dyer, BreJai Washington and Gabrielle Tilford. Betty’s loving siblings; Two sisters Sheletha (Lamar) McGhee and Dorothy (Morris) Madison. Four Brothers Edward (Mary) Theus, Robert (Thelma) Theus, James Theus, John (Linda) Theus. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Ollie Theus; two brothers, Joe Nathan and Joe Louis; two sisters Adeline Hamilton, Lulu Stevenson, nephew Robert Morris Stevenson, and one son who lived briefly Edward Thomas, Jr.
