  Then we started cleaning out Mother’s apartment, getting ready for the move.  It was an arduous process on such short notice.  We made trips to the dumpster and hauled lots of boxes down stairs in the Texas heat.  By the time we finished it was the wee hours of the morning.  We stopped somewhere for a bite to eat, and Ann was excited to learn she could qualify for the senior discount for the first time.  Then she realized that she still hadn’t bought a turkey for Thanksgiving yet so here we were, in the middle of the night, in a grocery store somewhere, punchy from exhaustion and giggling as she bought a frozen turkey.  Through all of this Ann never complained, never hesitated to keep helping, until we got Mother moved.  I don’t know what I would have done without her.
Christmas will not be the same this year, but I will look at the beautiful ornaments that Ann sent over the years, the picture of her and Bob sitting in Santa’s lap, and remember all of the good times and the memories.

Memories of Ann

In the Summer of 1964, Bob and I came home from college, newly engaged, and he introduced me to his family.  That’s when I first met Ann.  We were all so young back then.  Ann was almost 21.  Bob and I were 19.
A lifetime of memories began then, with many family weddings, graduations, births of children, and grandchildren.  Ann rarely missed any of our family’s occasions, even though we had moved 1000 miles away to Colorado in 1974.  She was always there, sharing in the celebrations and love.  It’s hard to imagine she won’t be there in person in the years to come, but we’ll always feel her spirit.
Visits to Colorado offered many different experiences from those in Houston.  Ann joined us in a number of trips including Estes Park for Joanna’s wedding and Breckinridge for a ski vacation.  Since Ann and I had grown up as flat land kids, our skiing skills relegated us to the Bunny Hill.  She had an unusual ability to only ski towards the left, always ending up in the snow fence where she would spend the majority of the time picking her skis out of the webbing of the fence.  Invariably Ann would go left and get stuck again so we gave up and just lay on our backs on the snowy hill, laughing hysterically.
Starting around 1992 my mother, who lived in an apartment in Houston, started having more frequent hospitalizations.  Each time I would fly down, stay with Ann, even borrowing her car for the trips to the hospital.  She never hesitated to help me out.  One time the doctor said my mother could not go back to her apartment from the hospital so Ann and I visited a number of assisted living facilities in rapid succession to find the best one for her. 

Ann and Bill were our precious neighbors. We always looked out for them especially when the weather was bad. We will miss them both!

Where do I begin? Our story began in 2001 when Ann became my boss. In the years that followed, Ann became my mentor, my friend, my shoulder to cry on, and so much like a mother to me. She loved my girls like her own and gave us so much unconditional love. Because of her, I am happily married. Because of her, I became a leader in my career- she saw what I couldn’t and always pushed me to do better. Her smile was like no other and her love of travel - I always hoped I could have made a trip with her to her beloved Greece. We would have had a blast. She loved family and was always happy. Ann will forever be in our hearts with nothing but love and cherished memories.

I don't know where to start. Our story started back in the sixties. She was my step mom, big sister, best friend, and confidant... all wrapped up in one amazing person. I have loved her most of my life. I cant imagine my world without her. She was always there for me in so many ways. I like to think we were there for each other. She loved and welcomed our adopted daughter as her own grandchild. She was full of love and generosity. I noticed in the picture posted...it captured her amazing smile. I will miss that smile most...and being called sweetie and sweetheart. She loved the holidays and family being together. If she couldn't come to us...we brought the holidays to her. We brought her and Bill an entire Thanksgiving dinner one year, and she made her mother's amazing dressing...I have the recipe. The last day I spent with Ann she mentioned her late husband Bill. She wished he was with her. I feel at peace knowing they are together . Until we meet again...

     I am so sorry for your loss of your beloved sister, Bob, Aunt and etc. She is remembered for her smile and gentle caring and love for you all. She was a beautiful and bubbly lady and she always had a great smile welcoming anyone she met.  You all are in my thoughts & prayers!  With loving thoughts of you all!… Sue
