Betty was born in Houston, TX on July 15, 1925. She graduated from Lamar High School in 1942 and continued her education at the University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston, to become a Registered Nurse in 1946. Betty was married to Joseph Green on March 24, 1946; they were married forty years. She took great delight in being an Air Force wife, getting to explore new places with each assignment. She also had a great passion for politics, writing numerous letters to representatives, even testifying before the Texas legislature.
