She was born on the 10th of November 1930, the daughter of Edward Andrew Showers and Mary Elizabeth McEachern Showers of Dallas.
Betty married her sweetheart, Cletus Brown, Jr., at St. John the Divine Episcopal Church in 1950 and raised their four children in Houston until moving the family to their thoroughbred racehorse farm, Mossleigh Farm in Brookshire.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded by her stepfather, Louis Edward Scherck; sister, Nancy Showers Slaughter; sons, Leslie Cletus Brown III, and Edward Showers Brown; daughter, Betty Ann Brown Davis; and her grandson, John Edward Nemeth.
Betty is survived by her eldest daughter, Mary Katherine Brown Lang and her husband Danny Lang, Jr.; grandchildren, Camille Armstrong, Catherine Armstrong Stiles and her husband Shane Stiles, Elizabeth Armstrong Owens and her husband Poul Rockford Owens III, Cletus Brown IV and his wife Meaghan Brown, Edward Showers Brown II and his wife Stephanie Brown, Cooper Brown LaPoint and her husband Mike LaPoint, Lesliann Nemeth, Hunter Davis, Caley Davis Stuart and her husband Casey Stuart; eleven great-grandchildren; sister, Ann Showers Butler; daughter-in-law, Ann Lacy Brown; and her brother-in-law, Lon Slaughter.
A memorial celebration in honor of the life of Betty Showers Brown is to be conducted at one o’clock in the afternoon on Sunday, the 25th of June, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.
Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the adjacent grand foyer.
Prior to the service, the family will have gathered for a private interment at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston.
