Benjamin T. Bishop was called to be with his Savior on Thursday morning, February 24, 2011. He was born April 2, 1921 in Slocum, TX. to Thomas E. Bishop and Lottie (Denson) Bishop. Benjamin was preceded in death by wife Louise E. Draper Bishop, son Ross Thomas Bishop, father Thomas E. Bishop, mother Lottie C. (Denson) Bishop Gatlin, and sisters Louise Bishop Hobson and Lois Bishop Lively. Surviving Benjamin are his daughter Vickie Bishop Vogel, son in law Milton Vogel, granddaughter Alyssa Vogel, grandson Jon Vogel all of Houston TX. and sister Florine Adamack of Palestine TX. and dear a niece, nephews, and many cousins and very close friends. BT was a long term employee of Sinclair Refinery in Pasadena and retired from ARCO in the 1980’s. Benjamin was very proud to serve his country during WWII as a radio operator on the USS Draco in the U.S. Navy. He loved playing Bob Willis music on his fiddle with family and close friends. He was a long term resident of Houston and eventually moved to Palestine. He will be missed so much by all.
Visitation will be at Funerarias Del Angel, located at 6330 Gulf Freeway from 6-9PM on Friday, February 25th. The funeral service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 800 Houston Ave in Houston, Texas on Saturday, February 26th at 10 AM. Interment will be at Forest Park Cemetery on Lawndale.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Hugs 2 Fund at Trinity Lutheran Church in Houston or your favorite charity.
