She was born March 24, 1952, in El Campo, Tx, to Eddie R. and Evelyn D (Moravec) Tumlinson. She graduated from Deer Park High School in 1970 and attending San Jacinto College. Barbara began working at the Houston Credit Bureau, followed two dear friends (Sandi & Barbara) to the Houston Chronicle where she worked for almost 29 years. She also worked for the League City Chamber, Hilcorp Ventures, and was blessed to be able to work at the office of New Life Lutheran Church. She retired the end of 2014. During her life she got to travel some and mostly with her daughter, Melissa. Of course Nebraska to see all the Moravec’s, then Illinois, Indiana, Tennessee to visit the Browns. We saw Washington D.C., Virginia, California to see one of my best bosses Jim & Melanie, Grand Canyon, and a cruise with Melissa, Grand-daughter Julia, brother Jimmy & sister- in-law Pauline. Barbara enjoyed gathering with others, Bible studies, crocheting, and her pets.
Barbara was a member of the Atascocita Lutheran Church after she moved to Humble. Was previously a member of New Life Lutheran Church for 40 years. She was a member and on the board of the Women of the ELCA, Pearland Lioness, Red Hats Book Club, Atascocita Lutheran Book Club, taught Kindergarten/1st grade, 5th/6th grade and High School Sunday school classes, and helped in various positions at the New Life annual craft show.
She is survived by daughter, Melissa and husband Shawn of Humble, grand-daughter Julia Romero, brother Edwin Tumlinson of Houston, sister-in-law Pauline Tumlinson of Tomball, step-sister Janice Golding of Brenham, nephews Scott Tumlinson and wife Jackie of Katy, Charles Tumlinson, Joshua Magnia, Daniel Magnia, Michael Tumlinson, nieces Cindy Shannon and husband Steve of Pearland, Casey and Anthony Whited, Corey Taylor and husband Andrew of Austin, Candace Sweet and husband Jordan of Texas City, and many great-nephews and great-nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents; step-mother, Betty Tumlinson; brother, James Tumlinson; half-brother, Alan Tumlinson; step-brother, Vernon Magnia.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 8, 2021 from 5-8 PM at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home. Funeral service will be on Friday, July 9, 2021 at 10:00 AM in the Colonial Chapel of Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
