Athena “Tina” Cyan Cook was born on December 11, 2018 in Houston Texas. She adored her older sister, Gaia and loved the family pets, Delphi, Thunder, Kiki, Peta and Titi. She was an incredibly smart and brave little girl, who was quick with a hug and an “I love you.”
She was an amazing daughter, and had done a lot in a little over 2 years: she was bilingual, loved to help around the house, and was destined to be great at sports. She could run fast, throw a ball hard, and lived her life as only a 2 year old could: with wonder and curiosity.
Athena was the type of child that any parent dreams of: A sense of humor, quick to laugh and caring soul all wrapped up in one little person. She loved animals, especially birds (pajaritos) and cows (vacas). She loved to sing on trips in the car - songs like “La Vaca Lola”, “Gusanito”, “Mariposita” and “La Lechuza”.
Her imagination was boundless: She liked to hunt for ghosts with a flashlight. She would build things with blocks and logs. She would pretend to cook and make “cups of tea.” She would walk around in her parents’ shoes, and loved blowing bubbles. She would make funny faces, give hugs and laugh with her family. She always had time to dress up like a princess and dance. Athena had recently discovered the magical world of pretend, and would play with her toys, as if they were alive.
On her recent trip to Wisconsin, she got to meet her grandparents and cousins for the first time, as well as keeping her eyes open for deer, horses, and cows while driving through the countryside. She even got the chance to feed a calf with her grandpa, and simply loved “Vaca Lolas”. She loved babies and couldn't resist looking into a stroller to see one. There was absolutely no one that Athena would not hug, and she literally loved everyone.
She may have only been here a short time but impacted the lives and hearts of many, including the students and staff of De Colores Daycare and Woodforest Academy.
She will be incredibly missed by those who had the pleasure of meeting her, but she will be in our hearts forever and ever.
Athena is survived by her loving parents: Joel and Valeria Cook. Her sister: Gaia Cook. Her grandparents: Tom and Ann Cook (Oconto, WI), and Raquel and Martin Luna Ledesma (Montevideo, Uruguay). Her Uncles, Aunts and Cousins: Nicolas Luna and Genaro Luna (Uruguay), Daniela Luna, Pascal Wyrobnik, Tomas & Saria Wyrobnik (France), Fabricio Luna, Marijose Vicente, Paola & Giovanna Luna (Spain), Betsey and Scott Nickel, Kaylyn & Kevin Nickel (Green Bay, WI), Connie and Scott Wooley, Alyssa & Ethan Wooley (Frederick, CO).
She is preceded in death by her great grandmother, Clara Silva.
Athena's favorite color is pink, so we would like to welcome everyone to wear pink for the service.
