Arthur J. Sullivan “Art” passed away on Saturday, the 7th of November 2020, in Houston, soon after being diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). He was 73 years of age. Art was born on the 17th of December 1946, in Staten Island, New York, where he attended Blessed Sacrament Elementary. A graduate of the Class of 1964 from Brooklyn Technical High School, Art continued his education at Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ, receiving a B.S. in Chemical Engineering in 1968. Art was also a proud member of the Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity.
After a 41-year-long career that took him across the globe, Art retired in 2009 from ExxonMobil Chemical Company as Butyl Polymers Global Business Vice President. Highly respected and a foremost leader in his field, Art’s accomplished career provided him with enduring friendships and impactful experiences that shaped his appreciation and love for both people and places. For his leisure, Art used his talents as a skilled pianist, music enthusiast, and avid golfer. He cherished being with his friends and family at his ranch house and property in Columbus, TX.
Art was a beloved son and is preceded in death by his father, Arthur Joseph Sullivan, and mother, Frances Theresa Sullivan; as well as beloved Uncle Frank Reffler. He is survived by his loving family: daughter, Jennifer Yager and husband, Sam; son, A.J. Sullivan and wife, Lisa; sister, Carolyn Reinhard; brother, Daniel Sullivan and wife, Bernadette; granddaughters, Lillian Yager and Anna Sullivan; former spouse and mother of his children, Lyn Sullivan; nephews and nieces, Charles Reinhard, Jeanne Back, Stephen Reinhard, Daniel Sullivan, Kim Justesen, Scott Paulson, Patricia Paulson, and Heather Paulson Soussou; cousins, Francis Steinhaber, Richard Steinhaber, Maryann Steinhaber and their spouses and children.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o’clock in the afternoon until eight o’clock in the evening on Wednesday, the 11th of November, at Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston. The recitation of the Holy Rosary is to commence at five o’clock.

Masks are required for entry and temperatures will be taken at the door. The church kindly requests that those who plan to attend arrive early as the doors will be locked promptly at ten o’clock.
The Mass of Christian Burial is to be offered at ten o’clock in the morning on Thursday, the 12th of November, at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 1801 Sage Road in Houston. The Rite of Committal is to follow, via escorted cortege, at Memorial Oaks Cemetery in Houston.
