Antonia Ramirez Eguia , 90 years old was called by the Lord on February 24, 2014, her love for life will always be remembered. Antonia Eguia was born July 26, 1923 in Dripping Springs, Texas. In her early years she worked at the Naval Base in Corpus Christi, Texas where her job as a riveter was to repair wings on war planes. She then met World War II veteran, Leon L. Eguia. They were married in 1949 and had four children.
Antonia enjoyed painting, dancing, word puzzles, and making jewelry. She is preceded in death by her husband Leon L. Eguia and Granddaughter, Alexandra Dominique Duran. Surviving children are, Gloria Duran, Alice Pina and husband Martin, Leon Eguia, Jr. and wife Janie, Edward Eguia and wife Staci.
She was Grandmother to Martin Dion Pina, Christopher Sean Pina, Christian Jacob Duran, Brian Pina, Jennifer Terani, Kristen Ball, Sarah Eguia, and Evette Eguia, and Joshua Eguia. She had ten Great Grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at Heights Funeral Home. A Rosary and Funeral Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, February 27, 2014 in the Chapel of Heights Funeral Home. The Rite of Committal will be held at 9:00 a.m. Friday, February 28, 2014 at Houston National Cemetery.
We would also like to express our warmest gratitude to Sherry as well as the care givers at the Heritage House. They all took care of our Mother with compassion and dignity.
