Andrew Lee Henry affectionately known as “Meechie” was born in Homer Louisiana to Charlie and Emma Mae Henry. He graduated from Mitchell High School when he was 16 years old, attended Texas Southern University. As a senior on the baseball team Andrew made history by pitching the team’s first no-hitter. Within the next 2 years he found himself drafted into the military, married and having a baby all before the age of 21. And 3 more kids to follow. Later in life Andrew obtained a certification as a Mental Health Technician working more than 30 years for organizations such as MHMRA and Clay Jar.
In early 1995 Bro Andrew was baptized as a Jehovah’s Witness. He served hundreds of hours ministering in the community and teaching in the Kingdom Hall.
He will forever be remembered for his love of Blue Bell ice cream, a hearty soul food meal, sitting on the porch playing his guitar and watching countless hours of ESPN and Western movies.
He is survived by his four adult children, Dawna, Andrew Jr, Zelda and Lance. Nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, his special cousin Prenise Howard-Reed and a host of loving family & friends.
Andrew was preceded in death by his parents Charlie and Emma Mae Henry, His brother James “Bud” Henry and his favorite Aunt Mildred E Murray.
