Amalia Jaime Ponce De Leon, 80, of Houston, Texas passed away on March 21, 2017. She was a devoted and loving wife, a nurturing and caring mother and a loving and thoughtful grandmother. Amalia's primary hobby (loved it) was cooking for her family. In addition, in her earlier years she enjoyed ceramics. She also attended cake decorating classes just so she could make her grandchildren their birthday cakes. She was a devout catholic and was a member of many church groups and had an unwavering love and faith in the Blessed Mother. Her greatest passion in life was caring for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Left behind to cherish her memory are her husband of 59 years Hector, her children; Sylvia P. Gonzalez, Hector Ponce De Leon and his wife Ophelia and Jaime Ponce De Leon and his wife Audrey. Also left behind are her grandchildren, Lindsay Lauren, Daniel Bradley, AnaAlicia, Marisa Renee, LidiaAngelica, Kirk Vincent, Stephen Andrew and EmilyAriel, her brothers Jaime Jaime (her twin) and wife, Elva and Daniel Jaime and wife, Florinda as well as countless other family members and friends. Visitation will take place on Saturday, March, 25th and Sunday, March 26th from 5-9 PM with the rosary being recited at 7 PM in the chapel of Crespo Funeral Home – Broadway. The family will gather at the funeral home from 8:30 AM to 9:15 AM and then the funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 AM on Monday, March 27, 2017 at Our Lady of Guadalupe in Houston and interment will immediately follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery. In lieu of traditional floral tributes, donations can be made at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church to the Amalia Jaime Ponce De Leon Memorial Fund. All donations will benefit Senior Citizens in the community.
