Edilmira (Almeda) DeLeon, born on June 16, 1931 in Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 12, 2015. Almeda, who was a lifelong Houstonian, graduated from Sam Houston High School and was a member of St. Anne’s Community Church. Almeda worked as a customer service agent at both Sakowitz and Macy’s department stores for more than 50 years. A devoted daughter, loving aunt and friend, Almeda will always be remembered for her kind spirit and sense of humor which lent itself to her well known knack for telling great stories. Almeda was a wonderful cook who truly enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Nora and Alfred DeLeon and her brothers Alfred and Raymond. Almeda will be greatly missed by her cousin Mary Chavez, nephews Raymond DeLeon, Jr. and Lawrence DeLeon, and many other extended family members and dear friends. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am Friday, June 26, 2015 at Pat H. Foley Funeral Home, 1200 W 34th St. A reception for family and friends will be held immediately following the services.
