Alicia Gonzalez's life was one of hard work, kindness, and love. Born in Sabinas Hidalgo, N.L. Mexico, on January 6, 1935, she immigrated to the United States when she was 17 years old. She settled in Houston, Texas, where she would reside for the rest of her life.
Alicia loved working with her hands and became an accomplished manufacturing worker. She had a career in the field of manufacturing and was known for her dedication and hard work. Her love for gardening was one of her biggest passions as she cultivated a yard full of beautiful flowers and plants - a reflection of her colorful life. Alongside her work, Alicia was a mother of two. She was a kind and loving mother who always put her children's needs first, making numerous sacrifices for their well-being.
Alicia’s unwavering faith in Jesus Christ, as a devout Catholic Christian, was the cornerstone of her life. A servant to those around her, always willing to lend a hand or offer support to those in need. She was a provider in every sense of the word, working tirelessly to ensure that her family had everything they needed to succeed.
Alicia Gonzalez was loved and cherished by many, and her legacy is one of love and perseverance. She will always be remembered for her kind heart, amazing smile, and unwavering dedication to her family.
Alicia is survived by her daughter Betty R. Gonzalez-Copaus (Donald Copaus Sr.); and her son Larry Gonzalez (Joanna Gonzalez); her sister Juana Perez, her sister Mayla Garza Trevino Serna and her sister Mireya Garza Guajardo; her grandchild Gabrielle Guerrero, her grandchild Angelica Copaus, her grandchild Donald Copaus Jr., her grandchild Micah Gonzalez, her grandchild Kyah Gonzalez, her great grandchild Melanie Guerrero, her great grandchild Evelyn Guerrero and her great grandchild Leah Guerrero.
Alicia was preceded in death by her spouse Abel Gonzalez; her father Claro Garza and her mom Cristela Trevino Garza; her brother Rafael B. Garza; her sister Olivia Garza Quezada and her brother Claro Garza.
A funeral service for Alicia will be held Friday, April 28, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Funeraria Del Angel, 5100 North Fwy, Houston, TX 77022. Following the funeral service will be a committal service from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Historic Hollywood Cemetery, 3506 N. Main St, Houston, TX 77009.
