Alice C Martinez

Alice C Martinez, 92 of Houston, Texas passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, March 29, 2022. She was born on June 8, 1929, to Ponciano and Jesusa Valdez Cortes in Houston Texas. She attended Sam Houston High School, graduating in 1947. She married Mario Martinez on September 30, 1950. She was a loving, caring wife and mother to her family. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and dancing with her husband.

Alice was President of Target Delivery Company Inc in which she and her family founded in 1969 and has served the Houston community for 50+ years.

She was a long-time parishioner at Holy Name Catholic Church and participated in many of the parish’s organizations. Alice was a member of the Evangelization Group, Holy Name Senior Society, Legion of Mary Group, the Disciples in Mission Group, Proclaimer of Faith Group and the Guadalupañas. She touched many lives while serving her beloved parish.

She is preceded in death by her husband Mario Martinez Sr, her parents along with her brother Henry Cortes, sisters Angelina Cortes Rodriguez and Guadalupe Cortes Treviño. She is survived by her two sons, Mario Martinez Jr with wife Teresa and Dario Martinez with wife Arleen along with her brother Martin Cortez. She is also survived by her five grandchildren, Patricia Martinez, Lisa Martinez with husband Jesse, Michael, Tony and Aaron Martinez along with her great-grandsons, Alex and Joseph Chapa.

A visitation for Alice will be held Tuesday, April 5, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Holy Name Catholic Church, 1920 Marion St., Houston, TX 77009. A recitation of the holy rosary will occur from 7:00 PM to 7:30 PM, . A funeral mass will be held Wednesday, April 6, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, at Holy Name Catholic Church. Burial will take place immediately following the funeral mass at Forest Park Lawndale, 6900 Lawndale, Houston, TX 77023.
