Aleksis Jenee Cantu

Aleksis attended Houston ISD’s DeChaumes Elementary, Hamilton Middle School, and graduated from Waltrip HS in June 2021. She played softball for 12 years at Northside National Little League and at Waltrip HS. Aleksis was a member of the Waltrip HS Rambling Roses dance/drill team for 4 years, serving as Captain during her senior year. She was also a member of the National Honor Society.

Aleksis loved to dance, listen to music, play softball, and go out and have fun with her friends. Aleksis dreamed of working as a mental health professional in order to help others.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Nikkolette Lynn Cantu, her grandfathers: Robert Martinez and Ramiro Cantu, Sr. and her grandmother Martha Lynn Martinez (Nana).

Her memory will be cherished by her mother, Yvonne Smith and stepfather, Joseph Smith; and father, Richard Cantu and stepmother, Thelma Cantu; siblings, Ashlee Cantu, Jessika Cantu (& Jesus), Karina Salas Cantu (& Steven), Jonathan Salas Cantu, Joseph Salas Cantu (& Licida), Noel Salas Cantu (& Maria), Katya Salas Cantu, and Carlos Salas Cantu; Grandmother, Maria Cantu (Welita); and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members and friends.

A Visitation for Aleksis will be held Thursday, November 4, 2021 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Holy Name Catholic Church, 1920 Marion Street, Houston, TX 77009. A Rosary Service will occur this evening from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will occur Friday, November 5, 2021 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM, at Holy Name Catholic Church, 1920 Marion St., Houston, TX 77009. A Committal Service will occur Friday, November 5, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Brookside Memorial Park, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas.
