Albert Jesse Vera 71, born on January 21, 1942, moved to heaven on April 30, 2013. Albert attended Jefferson Davis High School from 1956-1959, received a B.S. in Political Science fron Sam Houston State University and a M.S. in Secondary School Administration from Old Dominion University. He taught at Jefferson Davis High school from 1963-1964 and 1968-2003, also at Jesse H. Jones High School fron 2003-2004 when he retired. He joined the United States Naval Reserve in 1962 and proudly served in active duty of the United States Navy from 1964-1968 he finally retired in 1992 as Commander. Mr. Vera attained many accomplishments and recognitions during his 42 years as an educator and service in the community; just to name a few; Delegate- 1984, 1988 and 1992 Republican National Convention, Unsuccesful Candidate-U.S. House of Representatives, 1978, Republican Precinct Judge, Precinct 2, Harris County, Texas 1980-1992, Charter Member-Campaign for a Color Blind America 1994, Graduated-Harris County Sheriffs Academy, October 1972, Arbitrator-Better Business Bureau, President-Republican National Hispanic Assembly of Texas 1987-1988. He is preceded in death by his parents; Moses and Juanita Vera, and brother, Robert. He leaves behind to mourn for him his wife of 45 years Susan Vera, sisters; Gloria Vera, Sylvia Mastin & husband Roy, brother, Gilbert George Vera, brother-in-law Paul R. Myers & wife Sandra, nieces and nephews; Elizabeth Clawson & husband Casey, Mario Vera & wife Michaela, Raquel Bautista & husband Dino, Emily Myers Cantrell & husband Will, Gabriel Mastin, and great niece Isabel Clawson. Family will receive friends at Funeraria del Angel Funeral Home on Monday, May 6, 2013 refreshments will be served in hospitality room from 6-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at St. Peters Lutheran Church, 1501 Houston Avenue at 12:30 p.m. Interment to follow at Houston National Cemetery 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to St. Peters Lutheran Church.
