Abdi was born on February 21, 1932, in Moscow, Russia. Abdi’s dad passed away when he was just a kid. As a young boy, he supported his mom, his two sisters, and a young brother move from Russia to Azerbaijan. As a very young man, he learned to work hard to support himself and his family.
In 1958, he met the love of his life, Shamsi. They lived together in Houston Texas almost inseparable for over 60 years. They shared their love with their kids, Gita, Mitra, Sean, his daughter in law, and 4 grandchildren, Roxanna, Natalie, Arianna, and Neeky.
Abdi loved music and played harmonica and accordion. He loved to watch dance and listen to Azarbayejan music. He loved to buy gifts for his grandchildren and spend time with them watching Andrea Rieu.
He was a strong patriarch of his family and a good friend to all.
He was a good father who always took care of his children and did the best he could to teach and guide them, a loving grandfather and a “great-grand” father to many.
A man who never cared much about himself and who even in his final days would say to his loved ones, “just take care of yourself”.
Abdi was a strong, proud and generous man. He is loved and will be missed by many.
