Expanding his mind with post-secondary education at both Howard University and Southern University, Reginald began his professional career in the College of Architecture at Southern University of Baton Rouge, LA. Pursuing his passion, he served students at Southern University for 30 years, retiring as Assistant to the Dean of Architecture.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served his country as an E5 Sargeant from 1969 to 1971 during the Vietnam War.
Reginald served on the Board of Directors of Community Funeral Home, a business founded by his late father.
Reginald was always pursuing other professional interests and became a licensed contractor, licensed photographer, and avid computer consultant, who built computers from the burst of the computer age in the 1980’s. Being an Architect was more than a vocation to Reginald it was his “PASSION. Even in his down time you would find him designing structures, installing commercial sound systems, or building cabinets and decks, earning him the affectionate nickname, “Bob the Builder”. A car enthusiast, he enjoyed fast and fine automobiles, especially his beloved vintage Boss 302 Mustang. He loved going to car shows and watching tv shows about car and home restoration. A world traveler he was, and enjoying God’s beautiful creation in its fullness, he loved a road trip.
Reginald grew up in a loving family who showed up for him. His love for his siblings was constant and he relished his role as the “Big Brother”. It was this love and upbringing that helped him understand the meaning of family, and the bond shared with his 5 children was both singular and unique with each. Reginald’s love for his grandchildren was immeasurable, and he was always kind and supportive to them. He enjoyed teaching them things and found so much joy and laughter in talking to them, just to hear what their young minds had to offer. In the last 2 years of his life, he found so much love and happiness through his youngest baby boy, a cocker spaniel named “Ali”.
