Mildred Brown Ray

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until memorial service time at 7 p.m. on Thursday, November 17 at Greater St. Matthews Baptist Church, 183 Smith Lane in Houma. Visitation will resume at 9 a.m. until funeral time at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 18 at the church. Burial will follow in St. Luke Baptist Cemetery.

She is survived by her sons, James Ray (Mary), Leonard Ray, III. (Gwendolyn), Sylvester Ray, Clarence Ray, Sr. (Karen), Edward Ray, Sr., Charles Ray, Sr. (Lynette), David Ray, Terry Short (Kisma) and Allen Short (Tracy); daughter, Patricia Ray Gaither; thirty-four grandchildren; seventy great grandchildren; fourteen great-great grandchildren; and sister, Alice Mae Andrews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Ray, Jr.; son, Joseph Ray, Sr.; daughters, Gloria R. Short, Mary Ann and Dianne Ray; great grandchildren, D'quita Johnson, Devanta Poindexter and Edward Ray, Jr.; parents, Evan, Sr. and Elnora Joshua-Brown; brothers, Robert and Evans Brown, Jr.; sisters, Pansy Davis and Elnora Brown.
