Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at Jones Funeral Home Chapel in Houma, 6775 West Park Avenue, Houma, LA 70364.
He is survived by: his wife, Bernadine Henderson Smith: two daughters, Noella W. Montgomery and Roslyn Watkins; three stepsons, Trevor and Tyrone Henderson, and Christopher Watkins; one stepdaughter, Cassandra Jackson; seven sisters, Lille (Freddie) Butler, Evola (Alex, Jr.) Woods, Jeanette (Sylvester) Handy, Betty (Josh, Jr.) Sterling, Carol (the Rev. Johnnie) Clark, Norma Lewis, and Rose M. Lewis; and eleven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Joseph Smith, Sr. and Jeanette Brignac Lewis; one brother Joseph Smith, Jr.; and his foster mother, Alma LaGarde.
