Visitation for Mr. Picou will be from 9:00 AM until funeral service at 10:00 AM on January 13, 2024, at the Jones Funeral Home Chapel, 230 S. Hollywood Rd. Houma, LA. Mr. Picou will be honored with a military burial.
Mr. Picou graduated from St. Lucy High School followed by military service in the U.S. Army. Upon completion, he attended Xavier University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree. He continued his educational pursuits and earned a Master’s + 30 in education. He was a committed educator/coach with the Terrebonne Parish School System for 34 years. During this span of time he coached football, basketball, and track and field.
Mr. Picou is survived by his children Sylvia Picou-Burleson (Michael), Isaac Antonio, and Malcolm Picou; grandchildren, Ashley (Marcus) Baylor, Jonathan (Calundra) Thompson, Darin Picou, Devin Picou, Briauna Spears; Karley Picou, and Marhiya Bingham; brothers-in-law William Simmons, Alvin Simmons, Charles Simmons, and Henry Lewis; sisters-in-law Annie Simmons, Claudia Simmons, Aldine Navy, Geraldine Simmons, Linda Simmons, Lois Simmons, and Bernice Picou; one uncle-in-law, Curtis Castle. He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, colleagues, and friends.
Mr. Picou was preceded in death by his wife Audrey Simmons Picou, his parents, Thomas Picou, Sr., and Flossie Watson Picou; brother, Thomas Picou Jr.; sisters, Elnora Picou Wagner, Gladys H. Joseph, Verline Picou, Doretha George, and Georgia Picou Thomas; father and mother-in-law Rev. Kermit Simmons Sr. and Leola Goings Simmons, Brothers-in-law, Kermit Simmons Jr., John Mark Simmons, John Navy and James Williams; Sisters-in-law, Irma Williams, and Barbara Lewis.
