Dorothy “Dottee” Lewis

Dorothy Brent Lewis transitioned away at the age of 71 in the morning hours of Friday, March 3, 2023.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at 11:00 AM in the Franklin Main Street Cemetery, Rev. Noah Smith, officiating. 

Dottee, as she was known, was born Dorothy Evelyn Brent in Franklin, Louisiana on October 9th, 1951. She was the second child of three from the union of her late parents, Calvin and Lavera Brent.

Dottee was a graduate of Park Avenue High School, class of 1969. After her schooling, she married Dallas McClarty, Sr., and they were blessed with a son, Dallas McClarty, Jr. Her second and final marriage was to the late Dudley Lewis, with whom she remained until his passing.

She spent her life giving her all as a mother, daughter, and sister, and was the family’s master chef on holidays and special occasions. She was a loving Meme to her grandchildren and precious great grandchildren.

She cherished her Baptist faith, and shared her love for the Lord with her family. She was a dedicated member of the Mt. Zion Baptist church, as well as a member of the choir, until her health declined. She was known for her warm, beautiful smile which brightened the lives of everyone around her.

Many will cherish her memory forever, including her son, Dallas “Roc” McClarty, Jr., a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends, and her devoted sister, Guienzy Brent. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dudley Lewis III, her brother Calvin Brent, Jr., and both her maternal and paternal grandparents.

The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to those involved in the healthcare process, as well as her devoted friends Eva Rollins, Betty White, Claria Armelin, Heidi Curry, and Diedi & Rodney Jones.
