Wayland Boyd Jones, 84, of Hot Springs, Arkansas and formerly of Fort Worth, Texas went home to the Lord while recovering from surgery in Melbourne, Florida on June 26, 2017. He was born Nov. 28, 1942 to Marion A. and Oma Garrison Jones of Mertens, TX, who predeceased him.
He was also predeceased by his sister Anita “Faye” Stinson and brother Weldon Ray Jones.
He is survived by his four beloved children, Lisa (Steve) Rapagnani, Lori (Jane Constantine) Berk, Mark Jones, and Leta (Ellis) McKinley. His nine grandchildren that he adored, Angela Santana, Mallory Wallin, Jason Berk, Hunter Wallin, Erik Wallin, Brandon Berk, Markie Jones, Mackenzie McVey, and Jett Jones. He is also survived by three wonderful great grandchildren, Corbett Brown, Bentley Wallin, and Zeke Santana. He is survived by a brother, Kenneth (Jerry) Jones. There are also numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews that he was very close to and loved very much. He leaves behind many close friends and a large church community that were like family and he loved dearly.
He attended the University of Texas at Arlington. He served with the Air Force in the Korean War were he was injured in combat. He was a decorated Air Policeman and received the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal, and Korea Presidential Citation. He served as a deputy sheriff in Dallas County from 1956 to 1963. He was a successful businessman that loved making deals. He helped so many people during his lifetime and loved nothing more than being with those he loved. He had a BIG personality and never met a stranger. He had an amazing sense of humor and loved nothing more than to make others laugh. He lived for his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He was a big patriot and loved his country. He was a loyal and loving friend to many. He was a Christian with a deep faith and attended Lakeshore Baptist Church in Hot Springs, AR.
He left a lasting legacy of love, loyalty, faith, and devotion. He will forever be missed.
