Mr. Robert Oliver Jr. crossed the river Jordan to find his Lord, his beloved wife Verlene, daughter Marsha and granddaughter Melissa to rest under the shade of the early morning trees on Friday, March 24th, 2023. His departure will culminate in a joyous reunion as he is enjoying his beloved wife of 63 years, daughter Marsha and granddaughter Melissa as they have preceded him in death.
Robert was also preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
Robert was born on December 30th 1937 in Hot Springs, was a talented carpenter and painter at the Majestic Hotel. Robert spent his career life at Reynolds Metals Co., where he retired as a Foreman. Robert spent his time hovering over 1100-degree molten aluminum and provided a wonderful life for his family. Working in those conditions, Robert and all those men were giants of men that were tough enough to do that work and provide for their families.
Robert leaves behind a son, Jerry Oliver and a daughter in law, Brenda Oliver, grandsons, Tucker Yandell, Preston Yandell, his brother, David Oliver, Judy Myers, Shirley Diffey, Jean Grandstaff and Jackie Poteet, many church family members at the Oma Church, many camping and fishing friends that love Shouse Ford and surviving Reynolds brothers.
Service will be Tuesday, March 28th, 2023 at Gross Funeral Home. Visitation will be at 9AM with the service being performed at 10AM. Graveside services will be held at the Rush Fork Cemetery following the service.
Pallbearers include: Matt Weatherford, Mark Weatherford, Clay Wright, Jimmy Oliver, Ricky Oliver, Ryan Myers, Doulas Myers and Jeff Erwin.
Honorary pallbearers: Chris Oliver, Mitch Weatherford, Tommy Traywick, Tommy Mehalic, Curtis Weatherford, Cass Shephard, LD Fenley and Dean Stafford.
Robert and his family will hold a special place in their hearts for the staff of Lake Hamilton Rehab and special thanks to Jeff and Shelli Erwin for their devotion to the family. Their special care of Robert in the later stages of his life was a blessing for our family and Robert. Special thanks goes to the kitchen staff as they kept Robert in the gravy until his departure.
Donations to Oma Church in lieu of flowers would be appreciated. Family and friends are welcome to celebrate Robert’s life at Smokin’ In Style following graveside service.
