James Clay Lassiter, 80, of Hot Springs, passed away after an extended illness at home on July 2, 2016. He was the son of Marlie and Vesta Lassiter of Lonoke and Humnoke, Arkansas. Born September 7, 1935, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. As a young man he worked with his father on a pipeline all over the country and farmed and raised cattle in Humnoke. He was also a Mason.
Retired from California State University at Northridge (CSUN) after 25 years where he worked as an Electronic Technician in lighting and sound during multiple productions. He will be missed by all who knew him. He enjoyed square dancing where he met his wife, Wanda. After retiring, they moved to Hot Springs Village where they together enjoyed playing Hand and Foot, line dancing, ballroom dancing with the Merry Mixers, bowling, lawn bowling, fishing, woodworking and his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Marlene Miller of Lonoke and his first wife Joan Stonestreet.
He is survived by his loving wife, Wanda of 25 years and his daughters, Heather Lynn Clark of Simi Valley, California and Lori Ann DeStefani of Oceanside, California; grandchildren, Kyle and Tyler Kindig, Britney and Haley DeStefani; great-granddaughter, Charlotte Kindig; stepchildren, Lea Gaston of Oakland, California, Edward Haubach of Marshalltown, Iowa and Richard Haubach of Loveland, Colorado, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Gross Funeral Home in Hot Springs. A Celebration of Jim’s life will take place with his loving family in Southern California.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to be made to Heart or Sloan-Kittering Cancer Research or any cancer research center of their choice.
