Shirley Cox Player

Shirley was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was a long time member of Hope Mills Church of God. She enjoyed visiting the mountain, painting ceramics, playing scratch off tickets, and loved her “bling.” She especially loved being Grandma to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Shirley is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Bobby Joe Player, her parents, Willie and Lillie Cox, and her brother Buddy Cox.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her children, Donna Kozik, Willie Joe Player, and Bobby Dale Player and his wife Dana; her grandchildren, Brenna LeAnna Player (Herbert), Krystle Annete Jean Player, Tiffany Carol Amber Carpenter (Will), Kristina Anne Meadows (Christopher), Joshua Adam Player (Kaylyne), Jackie Bishop, Shea Barnanski, and Julie Lembo; her brothers and sister, Alice Fay Thompson, Doug Cox (Mary), and Leroy Cox (Karen); as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members. Her beloved dog Muffin, who she considered her “youngin” will also miss her dearly.

The family will accept friends for visitation on Friday September 3, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Reeves Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held oat Rivers of Living Water on Saturday September 4, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Cumberland Memorial Gardens.
