Mary Katherine was born to the late Tom Barfield and Mary Emmaline Turner. Katherine was a faithful member of Kingdom Place Church in Lumberton, NC. Katherine loved her family and taking care of them was her greatest joy. In her opinion, The sun rose and shined upon her grandchildren. She worked at home as a quilter and many sought out her talents for this. She was preceded in death by her faithful husband of 39 years, James G. Herring, and a brother, Artis Turner.
Left to cherish her memories are, one son Rev. Tommy David Hendrix, and his wife Donna of Fayetteville; two daughters, Connie H. Blackmon, and Kathy G. Colt, both of Fayetteville; one sister, Dorothy Riley of Ohio; 7 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren.
The family received friends from 7 to 9pm Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013 at Reeves Funeral Home in Hope Mills.
The celebration of Katherine’s home going was held in Reeves Funeral Home chapel at 3pm Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, with Rev. Gary Strickland officiating. Burial followed at Lafayette Memorial Park in Fayetteville.
Katherine will be missed greatly by her friends and family.
