Faye met her husband, Joseph Cronin Crewe, in Pulaski, VA, while he was playing minor league baseball for the Pulaski Phillies. They married on August 6, 1956, at Haymount Methodist Church, officiated by Reverend Clyde S. Boggs. Together, they built a life centered on love, family, and faith.
An active member of Mount Gilead Baptist Church, Faye was known for her unwavering dedication to her church and community. Her kindness, steadfast faith, and devotion to her loved ones will long be remembered.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Elmer James Nail and Bessie E. Haga; stepmother, Virginia Francis Nail; beloved husband, Joseph C. Crewe; and her sister, Mary Collins.
Faye is survived by her sisters, Geri and Harold Griffin of Fayetteville, NC, and Barbara and Jim Moody of Greensboro, NC; her sons, Steven Crewe and Russ Houser of Hope Mills, NC, and Dan Crewe of Hope Mills, NC; her grandchildren, Jeremy Crewe, and Ashlee Crewe, both of Lillington, NC; and her six great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense joy.
The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the Village Green Health & Rehabilitation Center staff, especially Miss Jill, the staff of Healthkeeperz Hospice, and Mount Gilead Baptist Church for their love and support.
Faye’s memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her. Donations may be made to Mount Gilead Baptist Church instead of flowers.
