
Normand and I studied for MS in hospital pharmacy under the great Dr Franke.   Franz Geisz got our MS in 1957    (approx).  I worked as Director or Hospital pharmacy at 1000 bed hospital University of Texas in Galveston Texas for 5 yrs and other  great hospitals around use inclluding Ohio and Michigan.  Norman was a great pharmacist and scientist...student of Dr Hagutichi..  I am 93 yrs old now and living today in Livonia MI.  Stopped working at 75yr old.. Enjoyed pharmacy practice very much.  God Bless Norman, a great person.  Condolences toMary and  his family.  Love  from Me Franz and Violet.

Dr. Ho (Norman to most) was a wonderful lifelong family friend to the Higuchis since before I was born.  Norman was my dad’s best friend and often a go to thought leader whenever he needed scientific feedback on a nearly impossible physical pharmacy problem.

Norman was also well known mentor and scholar to many pharmaceutical students and colleagues at the University of Michigan and The University of Utah who often volunteered his time as a research adviser and teacher but many best remember him by his genuine, giving, sociable and generous heart.  

Dr. Ho was almost like a second father to me and my brother Bob when we were in western Michigan during the early empty nest years of our parents.  Norman and Mrs. Ho (Mary) have always been there for our parents and family both during our best of times and when we needed their support and sympathy the most.  Norman was the kind of guy who’d give you the shirt off his back in times of need and insist on picking up the restaurant check every time.

Norman really knew how to have a great time and enjoyed life to the fullest; he loved his family and children very much often discussing their accomplishments, new beginnings in their lives and their support for one another.

Growing up in Ann Arbor with the Ho Family was the best of times particularly when Michigan faculty took turns hosting BBQ get togethers.  Norman and his family really knew how to cook a wonderful feast and have a great time hosting parties and giving our family members tours of the Island.  Norman was a big fan of football and he was very kind to take me and his son Greg to Michigan football games when Michigan was actually good enough to beat Ohio State.  

There’s so much to say about how important Norman and the Ho Family is to us.  Losing Norman is a terrible loss for everyone who knew him well.  We convey our heartfelt sympathies and wish Mary, Ken, Barb, Greg and Jeff and their extended families all the best in the coming years.

Prof. Norman Ho was my late mother's professor and PhD thesis advisor at the University of Michigan's School of Pharmacy during the mid-80s. As a teenager, I recalled Dr. Ho's kindness and how he would always go the extra mile to support his students. 

Towards the end of her studies, my mother Aminah was diagnosed with cancer. Dr. Ho would visit her at the hospital to motivate her. She finally did complete her PhD and graduated cum laude thanks to Dr. Ho's persistent motivation. He was an exemplary educator and a wonderful human being. 

Thirty five years later, our family still remembers Dr. Ho's kindness. May he rest in peace and may the bereaved family be granted solace. My condolences to Mrs. Mary Ho and the family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

I first met Norman when we were both hired about the same time to the Upjohn Company.  I was just getting started in research and Norman introduced me to the power of physical modeling in understanding experimental data which began a long and fruitful collaboration.  Our last joint venture took place in 2015 when we were both retired and in the twilight of our careers.  

Norman was my teacher, colleague, mentor, collaborator but most importantly friend.  The world will be a less interesting place without Norman.  Rest in peace my friend.

Norman was a colleague and friend. We met at the University of Michigan when I first started graduate school. We took walks from the Pharmacy Research building during lunch, and that is where our friendship grew. He already had significant experience and knowledge in the pharmaceutical world, and we were PhD. students under professor William I. Higuchi. Norman was brilliant He was committed to learning and gaining his doctorate degree. However, the university requirement for two languages was his ultimate challenge. We frequently laughed about it, and I would remind him that I had no doubts that he would master the languages he enrolled in—which he did. While I was working at The Upjohn Company, Norman stayed with Judy and me at our apartment. It was a joy to be with him—he will be missed.

Judy and I express our condolences to Mary and his family, and we will never forget the gentleman who Norman was and how much he loved his family.

Visiting Norm & Mary in Hawaii was wonderful as they were always the most welcoming hosts.  This photo was from our last visit in 2013 when we stopped in on our return from Kauai.  Norm was my  colleague, my teacher, my mentor, my collaborator, and mostly my friend.  Mahalo and aloha.
