My condolences to Mrs. Juanita's Family, 

Oh, how I miss her! Mrs. Juanita was the first  person to welcome me to island of O'ahu, Honolulu, Hawaii. I knew when I received her welcome that she was going to be special to me...like my second mother. When I received her welcome letter (I was stationed at Kadena, Japan at the time)-I kept it in a safe place because I knew that I when I would meet her-the letter would speak for itself. We worked together in Flight Records at Hickam AFB, Hawaii. Often times she would make me laugh when she would call "Headquarters" to make sure that the flyers were in compliance with all requirements. Mrs. Juanita was one tough cookie!

Mrs. Juanita and Ray would always take me to Red Lobster in Waikiki for my birthday. I was single at the time so she would make sure that I had awesome birthday dinners. She was my "girl", my mother, my co-worker. In life, you only seem to meet some great people-well, Mrs. Juanita falls into that category with me. I loved her and Ray...they were "my people". I often wondered how she was doing. So, today when I searched her name...I saw her obituary. My eyes filled with tears-however, I know that heaven opened up and welcomed my sweet Mrs. Juanita. 

Rest well and I will forever think about our good old days...

Today I opened my prayer book I was given by Juanita and Ray when I left Hickam AFB and saw Juanita's name.  I wondered if she was still with us.  Unfortunately, I was saddened by her passing.  She was a wonderful, caring, and dedicated person I had the pleasure of working with at the 15 OSS at Hickam.   God has her in his arms now.  God bless you Juanita.  

I met and worked with Juanita many years ago at Hickam AFB.  As our jobs changed throughout the years, we did keep in touch and would often meet up to have lunch on base or nearby restaurants until she retired.  I often heard her stories of her childhood growing up in Ewa, in fact come to find out my paternal grandmother was her godmother.  We still exchanged Christmas cards all these years, it usually arrived on the 1st of December.  I am so saddened to come across her obituary and realized I missed her services. She was such a Godly woman, who I’ve missed seeing all these years.  May you Rest In Peace, Juanita.  You will always a wonderful inspiration to me!  🙏🏼💞
