Fiaola “Fia” Timo Poti, 64, of Kapolei, Hawaii went to be with the Lord on December 8, 2024. Fia was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. He was born in Tafuna, American Samoa to Timoteo Setu La’apui (Poti) of Fitiuta, Manu’a, and Fagamalo, American Samoa, and Meloma Safotu Leifi of Saleaumua, Samoa.
The values of faith, family, and service shaped Fia’s generous and loving spirit. Fia grew up in American Samoa, where he attended elementary school and middle school before moving to Honolulu, Hawaii. He attended Governor Wallace Rider Farrington High School and later graduated Chaminade University of Honolulu in 1983 majoring in Business Management. His adventurous journey took him to Hilo, Hawaii, where he met and married the love of his life, Ana Nell Poti (Manners), on January 27, 2001. Three years later, they welcomed their one and only child, Oriana Meloma Waioleka Poti. His dedication and leadership in finance later moved them to Hayward, California as he began his career as a manager at JPMorgan Chase Bank. After retiring, they returned to his beloved Hawaii to enjoy life surrounded by family and the beauty of the islands.
Fia was a man of God, actively involved in his church communities in Hilo, Hawaii, Hayward, California, and most recently Jesus Faith Deliverance Church in Honolulu, Hawaii. He loved dancing, singing, and playing guitar - especially to worship music, UB40, Samoan classics, and timeless oldies. He also enjoyed watching his martial arts and marvel comic movies. He was a proud sports fan of his favorite teams - the LA Lakers, San Francisco 49ers, and the Golden State Warriors. Fia enjoyed his Samoan food, playing Bingo, and was always up for a good laugh or lively conversation. Known for his vibrant personality, Fia could light up any gathering with his infectious laughter, warm embrace, and love for life.
He was survived by his devoted wife Ana, beautiful daughter Oriana, and a large, loving extended family of 6 sisters (1 sister deceased), 2 brothers, 5 brother & sister in laws, 41 nieces & nephews, and 44 grand nieces & nephews.
Fia’s Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at Kanana Fou Church - 94-261 Kunia Road, Waipahu, HI 96797. Public viewing begins at 10:00AM, with service to follow at 11:00AM in the main sanctuary, then luncheon in the dining hall.
His legacy is a testament to his values: Love God and Love People. Fia cherished every moment with others, especially his aiga (family). He will be remembered for his laughter, love, and lessons that will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know him.
