Grandma Kay, OG, or Old Mama. Born May 12, 1929 peacefully passed away at home on Tuesday Morning, September 27, 2022. Chiyoko was survived by son Richard (Cynthia) Kajihiro, two daughters Helen (Philip) Carlos, Gaile (Glenn) Nitta.
Chiyoko has one surviving sister Florence (David) Saito, many nieces and nephews as well. Grandma has 15 grand children. Asa (Moka) Kajihiro, Natalie (Mike) Yonemura, Brandon (Kori) Kajihiro, Dallas (Paul) King, Galenn (Kara) Nitta, Gainor Nitta, Glenelle Nitta, Nashea (Micah) Kitaoka. 15 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
Grandma worked in many hotels, lei stands, and flower shops. In 1973, she began babysitting her best friend's grandchildren. Over the span of those 28 years, she became known as Grandma Kay to over 75 children.
Starting in 2001, she volunteered with Mililani Athletics doing after school concession making musubis and helped during football games making icee drinks. Grandma was always smiling and willing to talk story with students and staff.
Grandma loved high school sports. Her favorite station was OC16 and could watch any game that was playing. She attended as many of her grandchildren and great grandchildrens games and events.
Grandma also loved to travel. She went on many neighbor island trips, Las Vegas, and even Japan!
Whatever you called her; Mom, Grandma Kay, Old Mama, Grandma Kaji or OG, just know you have touched her heart and life immensely. Grandma always said, “live with no regrets and always do good when a person is alive. Don’t cry when they are gone.”
Never goodbye but “I’ll see you later.” We love and miss you.
