December 7, 1941 - Was preparing to play a baseball game when planes flew over to attack Pearl Harbor.
Worked at the Halekulani Hotel in Waikiki.
He was drafted in November 1944 and served in the Military Intelligence Service (MIS).
He went back to the Halekulani Hotel.
He attended Armstrong Business College in Berkeley, California and graduated with a degree in Business Administration spring of 1950.
He worked part-time back at Halekulani Hotel.
His jobs then consisted as a Claim Adjuster for Hilo Naviation Company, a Processor for Brainard and Black Insurance Company, and he worked every position from Lay Leader to Trustees at Parker United Methodist Church.
Mr. Maeda then worked for IBM as an Office Clerk then to an Administration Manager for the Field Engineering Division. He retired from IBM after 35 years of illustrious service.
He volunteered at his church's district office as a District Lay Leader, President of the United Methodist Men, chaired the Council of Ministries and other committees.
He participated in the Cal-Pac Annual Conference Committees, such as, Global Ministries, the Nominating Committee, and the Conference Commission on Religion and Race.
He was a part of the Waipahu High class of '43 reunion planning committee.
He received the Congressional Gold Medal to 100th, 442nd, and MIS (Military Intelligence Service).
Mr. Maeda is survived by his wife, Anne Maeda; son, David Maeda; daughter, Sharon Maeda Mazzeo; 4 Grandchildren and 9 Great-Grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on March 21, 2015 at Parker United Methodist Church. Visitation will be at 1:30pm and service will begin at 2:30pm. Burial will be held on March 23, 2015 at Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery at 10am.
