Alan was born on August 15th, 1966 in Honolulu, Hawaii. He was a graduate of St. Louis High School, class of 1984. While there, he was a member of the varsity golf team. Alan claimed the ILH title his senior year and represented St. Louis High in The Hawaii State Golf Championships.
Alan first started playing golf at age ten and was very active in the Hawaii Junior Golf program. Alan was fortunate to represent Hawaii in the Jr. America’s Cup tournament at Torrey Pines, in California.
Alan graduated from the University of Portland in Oregon; where he was awarded a golf scholarship and recruited as a member of the traveling golf team.
As an aspiring technical writer, Alan majored in communications and microbiology at UOP. He coauthored an HIV research paper which was published by the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI), as an undergraduate.
Alan lived and worked in Las Vegas, then later returned home to Hawaii to work at a wholesale/retail brokerage firm.
Anyone who knew Alan took notice of his infectious smile, and easy-going laughter. He had an incredibly kind heart and was very generous; the type of person who enjoyed sharing with others. He loved all sports. His favorites were golf, football, baseball, fishing, and he took special pride in bowling with his father.
Alan was preceded in death by both maternal and paternal grandparents. He is survived by both parents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
There will be a private funeral service and burial.
