He was born July 24, 1933 in Derby, CT, the son of Alan and Lucy Edith Hoyt Osterhoudt.
Graduated Shelton, CT High School where he played football and baseball.
He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War.
He graduated from the Connecticut State Police Academy in 1959 and was attached to Troop G, Westport; Troop L, Litchfield, HQ in Hartford and was the Resident State Trooper in Bethlehem, Connecticut
He moved to Homosassa, Florida in 1987.
Bob enjoyed hunting, snow mobiling, country music, playing cards and family picnics and gatherings.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Bernice.
He is also survived by 4 children, Robin Gelbogis, Homosassa, FL, Candace (Frank) Schremmer, Shelton, Ct, Joan (Richard) Johnson, Madisonville, TN, and John (Susan) Bortniak, Germantown, MD; 8 grandchildren, David and Mary Gelbogis, Sondra Ouellette, Lisa Liptak, Sherri Johnson, Richard Johnson, Andrew Bortniak and Victoria Bortniak; 4 great-grandchildren, Audrey Gelbogis, Joseph Ouellette, Sarah Ouellette, Zackary Liptak and numerous nieces and nephews; 2 sisters, Violet O'Donnell, Ansonia, CT, and Gladys Harrison, Southington, CT; 1 brother, Alan Osterhoudt, Jr., Shelton, CT.
In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made to HPH Hospice, 3545 N. Lecanto Hwy., Beverly Hills, FL 34465.
Friends will be received from 10 am, Friday, Sept 10 at the Crystal River United Methodist Church, 4801 N. Citrus Ave., with a memorial service to follow at 11 am.
